Lisa Hart Monday’s Full Moon in Scorpio (5/12/2025) was also Vesak, the celebration of the Buddha’s birth,enlightenment and death.
There is a part of the story of Buddha’s enlightenment in which he is under the Bodhi tree and facing Mara, the Demon of Suffering. Buddha handles everything that Mara throws at him with ease. Effortlessly Buddha waves aside arrow after arrow of human suffering (anger, jealousy, hate, etc) until Mara sends the last arrow, the Arrow of Fear. Then Buddha wavers. He struggles. So he reaches down and touches the Earth with his hand, thus gaining the strength, the steadiness and the support to face Fear and to finally overcome all human suffering, attaining enlightenment and freedom.
This part of the story has always touched me deeply and I see it’s refection in the Scorpio Full Moon which calls us to Face the Truth; the depths of our emotions, with steadiness and grounded support (Sun in Taurus). Reaching for the stability and solidity of Earth we can release our suffering and let go to arrive at Purity and Truth. May the Purity and Truth of the Flower Moon bloom in our Hearts. May we reach for our Mother Earth when we falter, when we feel shaken. She is always available and ready to turn our Mud into a Lotus within our Hearts. We have to let go first, though. She can’t mix the water of our feelings into a healing humus of mud until we let go. Don’t worry that your burdens will be too much for Her; She loves this alchemy. Go ahead, touch the Earth, and grow a Flower of Peace in your Heart.
